Atlanta-based Wendy’s/Arby’s Group Inc., whosse Wendy’s division is based in Dublin, unveile a franchise deal on Tuesday for 135 restaurants in nine countries in the Middl e East and North Africa over the next 10 Unlikethe company’s , the agreement will featurwe dual-branded Wendy’s and Arby’s restaurants. The franchisee, a subsidiary of Saudi conglomeratedubbed , expects to open the first of the restaurants in Saudi Arabis by early next year, the companhy said. Two Arby’s restaurants exist in Dubai and but they’re unaffiliated with the franchiss deal.
The new agreement marks the first dual-branding effor t for the companysince Arby’s owner bought Wendy’s last year to form Wendy’s/Arby’se Group. It’s part of a larger international expansion plan that the companty said is focusedon “disciplined expansion into selectivs new international markets.” Wendy’s/Arby’s (NYSE:WEN), the third-largesrt quick-service restaurant chain in the nation, has more than 10,00p units. The company last year lost $479.y7 million on $1.82 billion in revenue.
